What is visual stress?

Visual Stress, also known as Meares-Irlen Syndrome, is a sensitivity to visual patterns, especially stripes. It can cause perceptual problems that interfere with reading, despite normal vision. One scientific explanation suggests that it’s caused by hyperactivity in the brain's visual cortex, which can be eased by using specific colours tailored to the individual.

What Customers Say

Lovely, thorough friendly service by the staff.

Have been going here for quite some time now and highly recommend them because of their knowledge specifically about dyslexia as my husband needs specific help in this area. Lovely choice of frames.

Always look forward to going!

Very warm welcome. Lovely clean practice. Very efficient staff. The staff member who carried out the initial checks on my eyes explained everything that she was going to do and why it was necessary to do them. The optometrist was very efficient. She explained everything she was going to do during the eye examination. She was very thorough and listened to my concerns and answered my questions clearly. I decided to purchase new glasses and the different lens and their prices were discussed with me. There was no heavy sales talk both the front of house staff were friendly and polite. Thank you all.
